1000th TWEET !

I just wanted to say, tonight I had my big 1K tweet, nothing big if you think about it really, but I’m happy. 1000 crept up so fast! From the time I started about a month or two ago, the tweets just kept coming to me, and i was just randomly post stuff I was thinking or an update for my blog or YouTube, and I really never realised just how much I tweeted.
Anyway enough gibberish, thanks to all my friends, followers and the people that I follow, for making twitter, or tweeter ass I like to call it, so much fun!

A little snip-it of my silliness

E.L.F Haul (Blushes and Brushes)

Hey guys, finally back again to finish up the E.L.F haul! So today is Blushes and Brushes.
All product descriptions were taken from www.eyeslipsface.com however, all opinions are my own.

e.l.f. Essential Natural Radiance Blusher

“This exquisite, delicate, pigment payoff makes cheeks radiant combined with a healthy-looking glow.  Infused with texturizing agents, skin feels smooth and pores are minimized.”

We picked up the E.L.F Essentials Blush in Flushed and Glow. So far i am loving Glow, it does just as the name suggests, gives a subtle glow to the face without looking too overdone. Fluffed is a nice pink with shome shimmer. I had trouble figuring out what kind of pink in the haul video, but I now think it’s like a mild fuschia with shimmer. The blushers are very powdery and I wouldn’t necessarily say messy, but could be if you have a heavy hand. The packaging in my opinion is very cute, though it is quite troublesome to open. I am still having trouble opening them. hahaha
Overall, it’s a good product especially for the price.

e.l.f. Essential Lip Defining Brush

“This soft tapered brush is ideal for lip color application and for softening lip pencil lines, creating a professionally applied look every time.”

We also picked up a lip brush, a spoolie and the eyshadow “C” brush, which I love!
The lip brush looks pretty frazzled out, probably because of the platic surrounding the bristles, I don’t like it, but since it’s just a lip brush, I don’t think u need anything too expensive.

e.l.f. Essential Eyelash & Brow Wand

Defines lashes after mascara application or brow contouring to create perfectly coiffed, elegant brows and lashes.”

The Eye lash and Brow wand is ok, a bit stiff, but that’s necessary for curling the lashes  or adjusting brow shape. I have yet to see it in action, as I don’t do my eye brows everyday. Again another essential I don’t think you should spend an arm and a leg on.

e.l.f. Studio Eyeshadow “C” Brush

“This new anti bacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush is softer and more absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush!-Creates the perfect smokey eye-The medium size brush gives more control for more specific blending needs-Use with any powder eyeshadow product for color blending*Vegan Friendly “

The eyeshadow “C” brush was one of my favourites, so I made sure my sister got one to see how well it worked. It feels really good in your hand and is very sleek, it also packs on the colour very well as it holds a lot of product and you can also blend out shadows with it very easily. If I were to choose one brush out of the ones mentioned here to buy again, it would definitely be this. The bristles came in perfect condition and the one that I had before has not shed one bit, even after washing, so I am very pleased with this brush. The only part I do not like is that the bristles are black… I dont really like that haha, but that is very minor.

That is it for this haul, I will post a round up with the video attached and links to the Eyes Lips Face website as well as each blog post.

E.L.F Haul (Lipsies)

I have another haul today, yay!! I will be splitting it into two part as want to be somewhat detailed. I did a “First Impressions” type video with the products, took some swatches and slightly tested the products. This first post is on the lip products from the haul.
Disclaimer: All product descriptions were taken from www.eyeslipsface.com however, all opinions are my own. These products were not sent to me, but bought with my own money.

Luscious Liquid Lipstick: Baby Lips, Bark

“Lip therapy is here! Intensive hydrating agents along with natural pigments leave lips with long-lasting color and moisture. This luscious liquid lipstick creates wearable color that flatters a multitude of skin tones and looks.”

These lip glosses feel very moisturising and nourishing to the lips and have a slight peppermint scent.

Baby Lips is a shimmery light baby pink, way lighter than shown on the website and I definitely wasn’t expecting the shimmer either, but it’s nice as it isn’t too much glitter and it is not chunky at all.
Bark is a pink with undertones and has no shimmer, again not as dark as the e.l.f. website had shown.

Lip Swatches:

e.l.f. Studio Lip Primer and Plumper:

“Achieve longer lasting lip color and sexy plumped lips. The Primer creates a base for lip color for no budge, no smudge pigment that lasts all day. The cinnamon scented Plumper enhances your lips with a subtle plumping tingle effect for fuller, larger looking lips.”

The lip primer on this product is yet to be put to the test as I tried it on and them put lip gloss over it, which was just pointless and a mess, it was gross. I was going to take picture of the lip gloss over it, but really as I have said, there was no point. This needs to be tested with a lipstick.
The lip plumper stung! I thought it was ok at first, then it was getting worse and woah, I have such a low pain tolerance. But it does smell goos, and has a slight cinnamon taste, much like a Big Red chewing gum. I’m sure this is probably not the worse stinging  from a lip plumper out there but for a first experience I have to say it was a  bit scary. I don’t really think my lips were than much plumped after, but it did make for a good lip balm.

e.l.f. Studio Conditioning Lip Balm SPF 15

“With the e.l.f. Conditioning Lip Balm, lips get treated to a sheer splash of color that’s super smooth, velvety soft and non-sticky. Not only are these sheer, natural shades beautiful, they’re also beneficial, with natural ingredients that condition dry, chapped lips including Vitamins A & E. SPF 15 to protect delicate lips against harmful sun damage.”

This product gave me quite the surprise, for one, I wasn’t expecting such a large jar (and cute too), and secondly, this is highly pigmented, like the same or maybe even more than the Luscious Liquid Lipsticks are. It also feels very smooth and moisturising on my lips. You can definitely skip out on lipstick if you just want something nice and breezy for summer and pick this up instead.

Lip Swatches:

I did not take pictures of the e.l.f. Essential Therapeutic Conditioning Lip Balm, but it has a similar texture to the conditioning lip balm. I bought vanilla and as expected, it smells slightly of vanilla, also feels moisturising.

That’s all for this post!

30 Day Song Challenge Day 11, 12, 13 & 14

Hello again! I’m back to this song challenge… I really forgot this time haha.

Day 11: A song from your favourite band
I really don’t have a favourite band as I don’t follow bands really. But of those I do know, I guess I could count the Black Eyed Peas in the Top 5. I’m going to choose, “My Humps”.

Day 12: A song from a band you hate
I don’t have a hated band either so I really can’t put anything for this one. (I don’t really follow bands hahaha)
Day 13: A song that is a guilty pleasure
I was definitely waiting for this question as I wanted to post this song from the start, “S & M” from Barbadian singer (woop woop) Rihanna!! I love how she defies everything with this song!
Day 14: A song that no one would expect you to love
This would have to be “Jim Screechie” by Spice there are other dancehall/ dub songs that I like, but none rings out as loud as this.
I like “100 Stab” by  Aidonia, as well as “Slow Motion” by Vybz Kartel.
Thanks all for this post!

Make up Goodies Haul

Few weeks ago, my sister was going to a wedding and we decided to go to town and buy a foundation so she’d look extra special. My sister’s skin is a bit bothersome, so she insists on products with little to no parabens, mineral oil and stuff, i.e. mineral make up.

I looked up this particular one that I had saw when I was shopping a day and checked the ingredients, so when we went out we’d know just what to look for. However knowing Barbados, when we got there very few shades were left, and the one which would have been her perfect shade was only available in the tester…. -___-. That was pretty disappointing because there were so many in lighter shades that had not sold, and like the month before there was a larger selection and even more products there. (Just a tip for any merchants selling cosmetics in Barbados, please bring a few more of the darker shades ^__^. )

Anyway, we went to another store, this time Cave Shepherd (a department store), where we found some Revlon and Almay (they to have a large selection of both of these for a department store, but there’s also Clinique and Estee Lauder etc.) The only downside to shopping at Cave Shepherd is that the drugstore make up is pretty pricey because of duties and taxes. So unlike in a drugstore where the foundation was about $22BDS for Maybelline, a Revlon foundation was practically $40BDS (which is $20USD, crazy, I know!). But surprisingly, we were able to find a good foundation, free of all the bad stuff and get it duty-free, thanks to my sister’s friend who was in the island, so it was $30BDS then, YAY! Still is kinda pricey, but very little difference compared to the price we found online. (I will be reviewing this)

We went back to the drugstore, Collin’s and picked up the Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer, in their darkest shade, Latte. We were really lucky because it was the last concealer they had. I have heard that your concealer should be at least one or two shades lighter than your foundation, and this concealer definitely is. I am not sure if it would be good for people darker than us however, that is does come off somewhat light to me. (I will be reviewing this. UPDATE: my sister misplaced it on a trip 😦 So I won’t be able to do the review.)

I also picked up a new moisturiser by Garnier Nutritioniste line called Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream, it has grape water extract and vitamin E. My old face moisturiser, the Olay Complete Daily Moisture Lotion with SPF 15, had no scent and was supposed to be non-comedogenic and hypoallegenic but, was too heavy for my skin and causing my pores to become blocked. I’m sure it would be good for other persons, but I would like to test out the moisture-retaining properties of the gel-cream. Hopefully it doesn’t block my pores ^__^, fingers crossed! (I will be review this as well)

My nails have been in some terrible condition lately, and I wanted to start back pampering them, so I got a 2-sided nail file, as well as a 4-way buffer to shine and smooth my nails. I love the way how buffers work, it gives the appearance of a top coat when you’re not even wearing nail polish! In this haul, I also mentioned this Color Club name polish in “He Loves Me”, a cute name to go along with the cute baby pink colour of this polish. The only sad thing is that it was very sheer at first so I had to apply 2 to 3 thin coats to get my desired opacity. I think my nail polish very opaque, for someone else however I do think that 2 coats would be enough.

I also  talked about the M.A.C. Matte lipstick in “Candy Yum Yum” but I have already created a separate post to that which I will link.

Check out the video:

That’s all for this post, lots more coming!!

PS: Sorry this is so late, I went to post this last week but then Blogger had maintenance and hadn’t saved all I had written, quite the bummer. But I have remembered all I had wanted to say now so enjoy!

The JitterBox! Noisy Neighbours

Just yesterday I was trying to record a haul video for my beauty channel, outside was nice and quiet the entire day, I slept kinda late and when I woke up it was nice and serene. Then thinking this is PERFECT for me to record, I ready myself turn the computer on (because I was going to record from my webcam as it was just a haul), open YouTube, I’m about to click the upload/record button and suddenly this massive trunk comes through my neighbourhood to pump water from a neighbour’s yard I think. At this point, I’m thinking “ok no big deal if the need to have that done, I’ll wait or whatever”. I wait 10-20 minutes and it finally leaves with all it’s noise pollution, YAY!

I click the button to record now and I’m like 4 minutes into my video when these kids outside start screaming while playing in the street, ok I try to continue with the video. BUT to make matters worse, this moron on a motorcycle, decides he wants to add to the already high noise levels in Barbados, and practise his “cool” rider skills. He proceeds to circle my block then turn into my street every 5-10 seconds, after the first 10 times he does this, I just get fed up and stop the video. so this went on for about … 10 minutes if so much, by that time the computer decided to freak out and I restarted.

30minutes later, I’m calm again and ready to film, computer running fine, lighting as good as it gets and YouTube open, I click the record button and AGAIN the dude on the motorcycle decides he’s coming back for a second round! So I’m upset now, I has going to continue filming as a haull, but I had a better idea, I had the JitterBox to complain about things just like this! Now if you watch the video, which I will be posting at the end of this post, you will realise that you can hear this loud motorcycle in the video, and it’s rather distracting if you ask me.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with motorcycles, or people riding them, I love the hum of a Harley Davison, BUT in Barbados, it is a known fact that guys usually take out the noise muting thing (let’s not get technical here), that stops the bike from sounding like it has eating rotten eggs for breakfast. That is, they make the nice hum of the engine, turn into loud obnoxious noises which no one can stand, AND  they think it sounds fantastic! Now, they also do this to “hot” cars, and minibuses, but that is the topic of another discussion.

Most of these guys with “cool” bikes do not live in the areas which they torment and just past to show off (I am guessing, because it seems more like that to me.) To make matters worse, it was a public holiday, you’re expecting people to be relaxing at home, or out at picnics or the most recent event, “Reggae on the Hill”. But no, this idiot decides it’s way to quiet to be evening and rides his noise maker up and down the neighbourhood.

Things happen in your neighbourhood that sometimes really disappoint you, especially if they’re coming from people who don’t live there. These noisy people are one of the pet peeves of my neighbourhood, I don’t really mind the guys playing music outside or playing a game or two, but when these people come to your neighbourhood and are completely inconsiderate of your life, that is shameful.
There are people with babies and kids here, old people who could possibly have a heart attack from that kind of disturbance, people trying to record videos, and you are not considering them when you bring your noise to someone else’s neighbourhood, as I’m sure you would not like this for yourself. Imagine you are sitting in your home watching television and someone next door or whatever starts making noise, it’s annoying and you don’t wish for it, so why put such a misfortune on others?

Think about that the next time you decide to fire up that old noisemaker.

WARNING: In this video I am definitely ranting, so sorry if what I’m saying doesn’t always make sense. As you can also tell I was being greatly disturbed by that annoying bike.

P.S: I have to admit though, my family is not always the quietest either, we argue like any family, but not to the level to disturb others. Or at least I hope not.

30 Day Song Challenge- Day 9 & 10

I soooo did not forget about this challenge.. I promise I didn’t! I will not be using exams as my excuse either, I just kinda put it off for too long. So I’ll be picking up where I left off. BTW for those with exams, I wish you the best of luck, study hard and pray that you do well too!

Day 09: A song that you can dance to

Well for me there’re tons of those and since I’ve showcased American, Asian and just a snip it of Caribbean, I think I’ll choose a song straight from home, Barbados! One of the more recent tracks from one of my favourite Soca artistes though, in my opinion his songs aren’t as good as the years past. Guh Down by Lil Rick (the Hypa Dawg)

Day 10: A song that makes you fall asleep

Ok I couldn’t pick, I have 3 songs for this one, all slow, all Asian. The first one is Korean, sung by the gorgeous Son DamBi and is named “Invisible Man”. The lyrics in this song are very meaningful and beautiful.

The next song is from the Taiwanese drama, It Started With a Kiss by Lara and is called “Kao Jin Yi Dian Dian” or “Come a little Closer” in English. It’s really soothing on the ears.
Finally the last song of this post is taken from the sequence to It Started With a Kiss, which is called “They Kiss Again”. This song is sung by my favourite character, Xiang Qin who is played by my favourite Taiwanese actress, Ariel Lin ^___^. She sings this at the end of the show, it’s such a sweet song. This is Ni by Ariel Lin.
Lyrics in Traditional Chinese, Hanyu Pinyin & English

Listening to these now has me sleepy… -__-ZZzzz
