e.l.f. Glamour Girl polish | Swatches

Well hi there, this is a bit awkward. Would you believe me if I told you that I forgot yesterday was Wednesday?  Sometimes the brain forgets, technology doesn’t want to cooperate and there are just not enough hours in the day. But since I missed yesterday’s post, which I so gingerly painted my nails for, here it is. Swatches of this lovely nude polish from e.l.f. called Glamour Girl.

Nice name, great formula, love the colour in the bottle, but I hate it on my hands.  This is a “dead hand” nail polish if you’re my complexion. Although these pictures are taken with flash this is pretty true to colour.

It’s a taupe with the prettiest gold sparkles and surprisingly looks good in just one coat. But I did 2 coats for security. The glitter is very fine and gave me little stress, except a bit of drag as the polish dragged and I was still trying to smooth it over on the nail. But overall a very good formula for just $2USD.

I think this would probably look better on lighter skin tones, but this is just one of a few nude polishes I bought to try.

Disclaimer: I bought this product with my money. Opinions are my own.

Nicole by O.P.I. You Can! | Swatches

Hey all! I know I hardly do nail swatches, but I have a few newer polishes to show you. I picked up this one on clearance in Bed, Bath and Beyond (yes I had no idea they even sold make up). I think it was about $3-4USD and I had used a coupon as well. So YAY for the savings! These are usually $8, if you go in a BBB check the clearance bin for nice polishes.  This is Nicole by O.P.I. “You Can!”. I love what the description says on their website!

It’s been a while since I had any nude polishes, so I though this would do the trick.  “You Can!” is a sheer beige frost which I think could be built up to opacity by 3 thin coats.  In these photos, I did just 2 coats to show you, but you could do more if you have the time and patience to spare.

As with most frosty polishes, it’s prone to some streaking and  these’re also a bit of drag. I’m not really a fan of the brush on this polish either, but a more recent Nicole by O.P.I. I had also picked up had a much larger, nicer brush. This one is a bit harder to apply.

You’d need to buff your nails to get a really smooth application, or follow this trick from Leslie at Polish Art Addict. Still love the colour though. Very school- or work appropriate. I think this is from 2011 and an Nicole by O.P.I. permanent.

What’s your favourite nude polish? Have you ever used this colour?

Subtle Colour-Block Outfit

*insert shameless self-promotion* Don’t forget to enter my GIVEAWAY!

Hey all! I did this set a bit back, but never posted it here. Instead of the bolder colour-blocking with stipes or patterns, I chose two items that you could wear separate or together as in this outfit and they would still make a statement.

I really am in love with mint green and bright orange combos. I paired nude accessories to tone down the brightness as I have In many of my colour blocking sets. That’s just how I would prefer it, but of course you can go all out and throw in some crazily bright coloured accessories!
