Casual Friday Work Attire | Fashion

Hey all! Sometime in Summer I saw this outfit post on Facebook, and I loved it so much I saved it. I sadly don’t know who created it to credit them, but if you do know, please send me their link so I can do that.

I am in love with how chic this outfit is, even for work. Depending on where you work, this would be the perfect casual Friday outfit, though probably not for me at current, but I can’t help but love it.  I think this would go well if you had to go out for drinks after work or maybe dinner with the significant other too.

If I were to put this outfit together, I would go with this Coral Blazer and Georgette blouse, for differences in colour and textures. As for the jeans, I would have loved to found a pair just like the photo, but I instead found these ones on Rue21 which you can fold the bottoms up to a comfy length. I really like the dark wash for professional wear. Shoes depend on what job you have, and I’d rather comfort over style if you are required to stand a long time, so these cheetah print loafers from Old Navy and some inner soles for extra comfort seemed perf!

I saw these set of bangles on Forever21 and loved them. Especially since the colours go well with the coral blazer. When it comes to bags, you want something fashionable yet sturdy for those daily commutes if you don’t have personal transportation. Since there’s a lot more colour going on with the blazer, I looked for a neutral blue bag similar to the set above and found one from Liz Claiborne.

What do you typically wear on casual Fridays?

Jasmine loves to be cozy when hanging out:

During the fall in New York it can be nice and warm in the day and chilly at night. You want to be able to wear something that can be converted into both types of weather so this is why I paired a light motor jacket with a crop top. Fall in New York also means the return of dark colors. Weather its black, greys or dark greens. I try to look fashionable on budget and Forever21 is a great place to do that.

Mandy loves to dress up when she’d headed out:

random outfit

This is my going out outfit. I usually stick with a nice dress, and a cardigan because I’m always super cold. I love these topshop boots because they are super edgy, but comfortable and easy to walk and/or dance in.

Christina loves to look chill when hanging out:

It’s hot in Barbados all year round, so when I chill with friends, I usually think of comfort, unless we’re going to some swanky place. I could go from classes to the beach, house party or elsewhere in this look without any effort. Shorts are a year-round thing (although this week’s been raining buckets). I also love this magenta peplum top I got from JCPenney, that I layered a white F21 cami under it in case it got cooler later. Shoes are from Payleess Shoe Source, I love these sandals! My bag is from Call it Spring, just my everyday purse. I would also add a cardigan to this, but I had forgotten it, haha!

Lucy loves a good party:

So here’s my going out look, I love this look because its so easy to dress up or down, if you’re off somewhere that’s not that fancy but still want to make an effort – swap the heels for flats, perfect!
Kimono, Primark: £15
Cami Top, Topshop: £18
Shorts, Levi’s  (second hand, Urban Outfitters): £20
Shoes, New Look: £25

Bag, Dorothy Perkins: £11
Necklace, Primark: £4

I’m still clutching onto the hope that it’s summer here, but this look still works in winter, just make sure to take a coat too! Specifically over here in freezing cold England!

Stay tuned on my blog for more about this look and others!

Mandy’s 1st Day Outfit

Hi! This is my first day of school outfit 🙂 I’m wearing a pleated school uniform skirt from land’s end, my top is from Johnnie B., a target headband, and keds. My school doesn’t have a dress code, but I love school uniform clothes because they’re high quality and the only place I can find plain knee length skirts, and the pleats are so perfect on this skirt.
I like to wear sneakers because my school’s campus is pretty big and I have to walk outside to get from class to class. They’re also helpful for running to meet my friends who I haven’t seen all summer :P.
The basic elements of this outfit make it easy to switch out something for a cool statement piece, like my sunflower diy flower crown.

Jasmine’s Easy Going Outfit

image

When I need an easy going day outfit its all about comfort. For fall time in New York I like a long sleeve that is still light because the weather can go be warm one minute and cool the next. Also for an easy day outfit I love flats. They pretty much go with anything and are easy to get around in. I like to still be fashionable and on budget and lulus.com has great variety of stuff for that.

Christina’s 1st Day Outfit

As you might have known, I’m in my final year of university, about to start what should be my final semester *crosses fingers*, so my dress-code is more laid-back and easy. I don’t like a lot of fuss for school, but I do love to be comfy and warm in class. I paired my Old Navy White tee with these RockStar jeans also from ON. I swear this wasn’t sponsored, just a coincidence!

In Barbados, it’s hot all year round, so it’s almost always appropriate to wear shorts. But because it’s the first day, I am wearing these red ankle-length pants because you never know what temperature your lecture theatres will be. I’m also wearing AirWalk pumps, they’re so easy on your feet and perfect for long days! To accessorise my BCBG statement bracelets from Macys and my usual necklace from my grandmum.

Lucy’s Easy Going Outfit

So, here’s my chilled out university look. I think it’s perfect for a day studying, and when you don’t want to look too dressed up – but still on trend. I love these cigarette trousers, I think they really make an outfit pop, and available in a number of high street stores – so you don’t need to settle for one pair! (I know I haven’t). This light blazer is perfect for everyday, I know it’s a bit pricier at £50 but I constantly wear it, so relaxed and slouchy. It’s always good to buy a statement piece every now and then that you’re going to get a lot of wear out of.

Accessories, Accessories, Accessories! This necklace I love, there’s a lot of chain necklaces on the high street at the moment and for £4 you can’t go wrong! This particular one also has a bit of weight to it, there’s nothing worse than a light, barely there necklace.
Blazer – Topshop £50
Cigarette Trousers – H&M £7 (sale, bargain right?)
Top – H&M (bought years ago)
Boots – Dorothy Perkins £28 (sale, 20% off original price)
Necklace – Primark £4
Hope you enjoyed seeing our Back to school Style, be sure to come back next week for part 2!

I call it Spring! OOTD | Fashion

Hey all, here’s a couple snaps of an outfit that I wore one day while perusing the city. It was a bit warmer out, probably 24 C but still a bit chilled compared to here in Barbados. I was so happy that I could wear my shorts haha. These are some pretty old Off shore shorts and opaque black tights. I’m also wearing American Eagle blue bow ballet flats, these are so comfy! On top I’m wearing a black lace back tank top and I covered up with a bright chartreuse cardigan from JCP and wrapped this colourful leopard scarf around my neck.

I thought this was a pretty fun outfit considering the weather conditions. Later it got a bit warmer (yay! ) so I removed the scarf and tights and went bare-legged.  As for accesories, I’m wearing just one bracelet that my sister got me probably 2 years ago, and a pair of Cole Haan sunglasses I recently acquired. I love those! I’m also wearing small pave heart studs and have my hair in a fish tail braid. My mother actually took these pics for me, I think she got pretty handy with the camera considering her first shots with it haha, thanks mum :).

As for my bag, I went with my trusty everyday bag also from JCP, by Call it Spring in a taupe brown.
So what do you think of the outfit? Anything you would do differently?

Until next post…

Oxblood for Fall 2012

This colour has been popping up just about every where. It’s a new take on the classic fall red or burgundy. A rich statement colour which personally I think the name is gruesome. I think this colour would only be trendy for fall and winter, unlike tango tangerine and minty green which has become staples in the wardrobe of many style gurus, bloggers and just about everyone.

If I wanted to be a part of this new trend, I’d definitely pick inexpensive pieces which may not last a lifetime but, you won’t be stuck with the colour years down the line trying to figure out what you were thinking.

As you could probably tell, I am not in love with this trend, it’s more my style to wear a darker lip colour rather than clothing items in maroon hues if I want something fall-inspired. Anyway I put together this office-appropriate outfit, momentarily inspired by the colour.

Oxblood Inspired Me

What do you think of Fall’s new colour? Would you dare to wear it or rather stick to darker dramatic make up for Autumn?

XOXO

Flying by with the time.. Enter OCTOBER!!

It’s amazing just how fast September has left us. I remember making my last video in August thinking that by week 2 in uni, I’d be able to make another video with an update and post my school outfits video. But as usual September has trolled me, in not the usual of ways with just school, but it’s been a very busy, up and down month. Regardless, I’m super excited that it’s OCTOBER!!

At one point last month, I was actually so out of it, that I just would not vlog a thing. But luckily, October should be a good month and I really want to make some Halloween tutorials. I have some looks in mind, just to try them out, film and post the tutorials.

I don’t think I’ll be filming a September favourites, might set me back in posting the Halloween videos, but I will try to post my back to school outfits video. Which I am proud to say that I stepped out of my comfort zone and wore a couple of these outfits to school! Yay Christina!! Of course, these outfits are nothign too elaborate, but like I said in my last update, I’m a comfy jeans and T-shirt kind of girl, though I love to dress up when I’m going out.

For the first part of September I wore my new favourite eyeliner, the Coastal Scents liquid liner which I used in my Back to School tutorial. But for the Rest of the month, I’ve been keeping it very low-key and easy. Mascara, eyebrows and a bit of highlight, somedays I even use blush. I’ve found one I really like that’s a subtle colour and makes my skin look glowy.

I have an idea for a nail tutorial , however I have to get back a nail polish a friend borrowed before I can do it; may be filmed by the end of October possibly. I really want to get the Halloween Tutorials done first.

I remembered posting an Asian drama for September, but the sad news is, I’ve been so busy I haven’t gotten the chance to watch it myself. I will still try to have another somethign posted for October though. It may be something shorter for people like me who are being bombarded with lab write ups, assignments and tests haha.

ANDDD finally, I’ve started to compile my Fall fashion posts. Yes I know we don’t get fall here in Barbados, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be in the know or not like the current trends. Never know could be an added tropical twist to them. 🙂

So look out for more posts coming soon! Oh yea, I didnt tell you why October’s so special.. hehehe
it’s the month of my birth!! I’m going to be 21 this year ( 28th October in case you were curious)! Time surely flies 🙂

Anyway, Good bye September, HELLO October!!

XOXO

From Swimsuit to Outfit

Hey all, just a quick outfit post on how to change your one piece into an outfit perfect for a beach date or a pool party. Very simple, rather than throwing on a cover-up, or having a bag filled with beach things plus extra clothes!
