M.A.C. Daddy’s Little Girl (swatches and mini review)

Sorry about the lateness of this post, this was intended to be up yesterday, but I forgot to write the post on it, then my internet went wonkers. Anyway I blogged about attending the Barbados launch of the M.A.C. Archie Girls collection and I picked up this lipstick while I was there. The name just seems so fitting of me, as I am a big daddy’s girl haha.

M.A.C. Daddy’s Little Girl is a bright blue-toned pink lipstick which is a satin formula, meaning there is a touch of sheen to it. This lipstick is bordering a magenta depending on the lighting (which you will see in the swatches). It is unlike any of pink lip products that I have so I feel very proud of that. Even compared to some of my mauve or purple shades, it’s still very different.

As with most M.A.C. lipsticks, this has the typical vanilla scent but the packaging is white with Veronica on it, as this is one of the products from her side of the collection. This lipstick is full of colour and one swipe will leave your lips brightly coloured. I also wore this for just 15mins and it stained my lips for the rest of the day. When it is not wiped off immediately, it can last up to 6 hours, as I found out one college day, and even then the stain still lingers. It takes a makeup remover wipe or exfoliation to get rid of it.

I am in love with this lipstick, but this is not something that you can wear to college everyday or even work because it’s very bold and people WILL stare. Alone this lipstick can have a somewhat chalky appearance on women of colour, but as the lipstick settles in and wears, it’s not as bad. I’ve actually just found a solution to the bit of chalkiness, a coordinating Maybelline lip gloss. It was quite a coincidence that my aunt gave me it, because it goes so perfectly with this lipstick. Also you may want to wear this lipstick with a lip liner to prevent feathering and to ensure that you keep this bright colour in check.

I will do another post with comparisons and how I wear this lipstick very soon.  Until then, enjoy the swatches!

Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie

You probably have seen in one on the hauls on my YouTube last year, that I got a Revlon lip butter in “Candy Apple”, which is a gorgeus warm-toned red. Recently I’ve acqured another from a giveaway I won, in Raspberry Pie, which looks as yummy and pretty as it sounds.

The packaging on these lip products are very sleek and they do not look at all cheap. I also love the viewing window for the colour and how the lid is a similar colour to the lip product. Sadly, being the clutz that I am, I had the hardest time opening it at first and got lip butter all over the cover haha.

The formula is very good, a nice smooth even colour when you’re applying it to your lips. No patchiness, and very moisturising for a lip colour. As the name suggests, it’s like butter, but beware in tropical, warm places this can melt in storage. I have found my older one melted a bit in my cosmetics bag.

The colour is a cool-toned pink with makes my teeth look whiter than they really are. They chose the best name for this shade, as it does remind me of a raspberry. This lip product leaves a nice sheen to the lips, and isn’t sticky, but is a tad heavy. You can defintely tell that you are wearing it on your lips. I wouldn’t add a gloss over it, it’s great as is, and the colour pay-off is surprising. You only need to do one swipe to get medium coverage and it is buildable.

After eating, drinking and talking (a lot), the sheen obviously doesn’t not stay, but the colour stains your lips. I wore this on the first day of the Girlfriend’s Expo this year and it lasted for about 6 hours, that is with me reapplying just lip balm to me lips occasionally because my lips tend to dry out once exposed. I was very impressed!

The Verdict:Pros:

  • Great colour pay-off
  • Good amount of product
  • Gives a nice sheen to lips
  • Lasts about 6 hours (on me)
  • Stains lips (this colour)
  • Moisturising for a lip colour (still not as moisturising as a lip balm, obviously)
  • Chic packaging

Cons:

  • Hard to open on first use (or maybe that was just me)
  • Pricey in Barbados ($20BDS+) and never on special 😦

The Raw Sugar:
I love the the lip butters, especially this colour. I want to try the lilac one next, if not Creme Brulee that I have seen tons rave about. OR the Relvon Lip Balm Stains. However those as like $25BDS….and on a student budget, I can’t see myself getting that anytime soon. But this product is definitely worth purchasing if you want to tip toe into wearing lipstick, or just moving away from nude lips as you can build the colour intensity and it feels a bit like lip balm.

Where you can find it: Cave Shepherd (Barbados)
Drugstores (USA)

Coral Crush (NOTW)

Hey all! I did these nails were done in the summer, but I saved the pictures just to show you guys. I really love the colour, even though I don’t think the name matches the colour much. The name of this Santee polish is Neon Pink.It looks closer to coral than pink to me, but it is very bright and fun like most neons.

The nail polish goes on very easily, literally glides on and is semi-opaque in 2 -3 thin coats. I loved this so much that is didn’t even want it to have to change it. Shanele had come over and fell in love with it too! We kept getting compliments on the colour. ^__^

I forgot to take a picture of the bottle, so sorry about that. I’m not sure I’m getting the hang of this hand posing though. Seriously, my fingers looks so odd haha.

So what do you think of the colour? Love it? Hate it? Would you wear it?

XOXO

Happy Valentine’s Day & Tutorial!

Hey everyone, as you could already tell my the title of this post tomorrow is the official day of LOVE! Many of us are going out or doing something special with our loved ones. For those of you going out, I’ve done this make up look to celebrate the occasion.

Actually I had done this look last week on whim and I really liked how it turned out. Being at a bit of a lost for a Valentine’s Day tutorial, I decided to retry this eye make up as it was cute, yet sultry enough to be worn for an evening.

Even if you’re not going out you can still try out this look if you like it, and if you’re single this February, who knows this captivating eye make up could draw some wanted attention to your gorgeous eyes and someone might even fall for you ^_^.

I used pink eyeshadow, which is in my opinion a much softer and less cliche colour for February 14th, and had darkened the crease with a deep mauve and charcoal colour.

Since the eyes are a bit colourful, I kept the lips soft and nude. Many guys do not like brightly coloured make up, it can be a bit distracting or some may even consider it intimidating. Plus with neutral lip gloss or lipstick, your guy will not be scared to kiss you  and risk getting lipstick on himself. Also try not to gloss it up too much if you do plan on wearing lip gloss.

Don’t overdo the blush either, check in natural lighting if you can to keep it to a nice flush, or a rosy glow. Although in the video it looks as if I have applied a ton of blush, it’s amazing how much of a flush it blended out to be (as you will see in the photos).

Sadly I have a Chemistry practical tomorrow too, so we’ll see how that plays out. So my boyfriend and I are actually staying in this Valentine’s Day, I can’t wait to spend some more quality time with him :). I’ve been quite busy lately!

I don’t want to say too much in this post, just in case he happens to read it, but I have a small surprise for my T. I really hope you like it. ^___^ hehe!

OMGHHKP! Yum yum Candy for me!

I am suppppper excited! I cannot say it enough how much happy I am about this post. GUESS WHAT??

I got CANDY YUM YUM from the M.A.C. Quite Cute Collection! It’s a beautiful neon pink lipstick, yes I did say NEON! I fell in love with this lipstick after Leesha (xSparkage) have reviewed and done swatches on them for both her blog and YouTube. You can find the blog post here.

As the M.A.C. website describes it, Candy Yum Yum is a Matte Neon Pink lipstick. It retails for $14.50USD on the official M.A.C. website, however it is currently sold out. My sister actually bought it from a friend of hers for about $36.00BDS, who had a couple pieces from the collection.

I am very happy and impressed by the colour, it goes well with dark skitones as well as lighter ones (as seen on xSparkage). If you’re looking for a more stand-out colour and you don’t prefer red, this is definitely for you. It warms up to your skintone.

I was so excited when my sister brought it home that we tried it out before taking pictures hahah, such is life. The sad thing is however, is that I think the heat in Barbados is causing it to “sweat” so it has to be stored in a cool place, but that was just tonight. We’ll see how much sweating it does.

So the moment you’ve been waiting for, the pictures and swatches! (Let me note, the lipstick is slightly less bright in colour than shown here when on the lips, it is possible that the flash could have affected the colour. It is still a very beautiful and striking colour.)

Hiding in the packing…
A gorgeous Neon PINK!

This is exactly what I said about the “sweating”, it’s really hot in Barbados!

Swatched on my hand
Using my sister as a lipstick model haha!
This is without lip liner or base.
GORGEOUS!

There you have it, the lovely “Candy Yum Yum”, just scrumptious!
