Golden Eye Makeup Tutorial | Beauty

Finally, I’ve made a picture-tutorial (Pictorial)! YAY! This is a lot harder than you’d imagine, I think making a video is easier, but I’ve really missed making make up tutorials and this is the closest thing I can get to it without my computer wanting to crash.

This look is quite simple and daytime appropriate, it’s just bright enough to capture people’s attention yet  would look great with glasses on. I typically put together this look if I feel like wearing eyeshadow during the day and I’m sure I’ve featured a FOTD if not an Instagram picture with this eyeshadow look or similar. I guess you could call this my go-to look.

Excuse the ashy-ness of the face in these pictures, because my BB cream contains SPF plus I powdered my face, it’s terrible with flash, but where I bronzed looked normal. I promise this BB cream suits my skin tone and looks normal in daylight, haha. Honestly camera flash is so brutal on powder, how do you balance between looking too oily and looking ashy?

Enough blabber, Here’s the tutorial! (products listed at the end)

Cute and Easy French tip nails tutorial

I learned this technique a while ago from SCCastenada on YouTube,  to create easy fool-proof french tip nails.  You don’t need tape nor nal strips.  I’ve tried it that way before and it always turns into a big mess for me.  But this way is a bit easier,  all you need is white nail polish,  acetone or nail polish remover with acetone and an eye shadow brush that you no longer use.  If it’s a “C”  shape that’s perfect, but the one I had was a bit more random because I used it before and it’s not the best quality.  I think you are supposed to use synthetic brushes, though I’m not sure what will happen with a real hair brush.

This is my first recorded nail tutorial and let me tell you,  preparing/filming it was not as easy as I thought.  Sadly at some points, you can’t see what I’m doing either, but I’ll work on that for the next tutorial! In my cramped room, I had so much trouble setting up my tripod for the perfect light,  and then I still needed to use my lamp because the video looked a bit dim. Also if it’s out of focus at some points I apologise, definitely need to get a camera where I can set the focal range.  That’ll be one of my goals for this year.

These are actually very easy (if you’re not recording yourself) to do. Just french tips and a cuttle like neon pink heart. I had more than one shade of pink, but I settled on this one. It’s not too flashy and doesn’t take a very long time. The hardest part was waiting for the polish to dry.

Anyway I hope you enjoy the tutorial and if you have any suggestions or criticisms you can leave them as a comment.  Also if you do these nails you can post them on my facebook fan page or @ mention me @Chrisamor28 on Twitter.

Happy Valentine’s Day & Tutorial!

Hey everyone, as you could already tell my the title of this post tomorrow is the official day of LOVE! Many of us are going out or doing something special with our loved ones. For those of you going out, I’ve done this make up look to celebrate the occasion.

Actually I had done this look last week on whim and I really liked how it turned out. Being at a bit of a lost for a Valentine’s Day tutorial, I decided to retry this eye make up as it was cute, yet sultry enough to be worn for an evening.

Even if you’re not going out you can still try out this look if you like it, and if you’re single this February, who knows this captivating eye make up could draw some wanted attention to your gorgeous eyes and someone might even fall for you ^_^.

I used pink eyeshadow, which is in my opinion a much softer and less cliche colour for February 14th, and had darkened the crease with a deep mauve and charcoal colour.

Since the eyes are a bit colourful, I kept the lips soft and nude. Many guys do not like brightly coloured make up, it can be a bit distracting or some may even consider it intimidating. Plus with neutral lip gloss or lipstick, your guy will not be scared to kiss you  and risk getting lipstick on himself. Also try not to gloss it up too much if you do plan on wearing lip gloss.

Don’t overdo the blush either, check in natural lighting if you can to keep it to a nice flush, or a rosy glow. Although in the video it looks as if I have applied a ton of blush, it’s amazing how much of a flush it blended out to be (as you will see in the photos).

Sadly I have a Chemistry practical tomorrow too, so we’ll see how that plays out. So my boyfriend and I are actually staying in this Valentine’s Day, I can’t wait to spend some more quality time with him :). I’ve been quite busy lately!

I don’t want to say too much in this post, just in case he happens to read it, but I have a small surprise for my T. I really hope you like it. ^___^ hehe!

Finally.. ADELE- inspired makeup!

I’ve been saying I’ll do an Adele inspired look for the longest while, and here it finally is. I’m sorry it took so long, but who knew getting lashes on could be such a hassle… not to mention forgetting this tutorial so many times -__-.

My inspiration were these pics of the great Adele. She’s such an amazing singer and a gorgeous person.

Adele’s signature look is a neutral, but dramatic smokey eye with warm hues or bronzer along the cheeks and nude coloured lips. She just loves her FAKE LASHES and cat eyeliner (which I’m not all the great at, but I tried :). I took inspiration from these pics as well as added my own twists. I hope you enjoy the tutorial!!

I tried to film with natural light for most of the tutorial, but that happened to fail and I had to end up using a lamp as the sun set. Hopefully the lighting isn’t too much of a turn off…

Just playing around with the camera here, haha

Leighton Meester’s Wonderstruck Tutorial!

Hey all! Finally I’ve been able to film Leighton Meester’s look from the Lovestruck by Vera Wang advertisement. Let me just say this, the ad was very pretty and girly, with romantic stylings, befitting the title of the new fragrance. Leighton wore a beautiful burgundy strapless dress with a mermaid-styled skirt. I’m not sure if the dress was taffeta, chiffon or organza, but it was very pretty an flowy and the styling reminded me of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl (the show that made me love Meester so much). I’m sure like many other people who watch the show, we were hoping that the main guy was Ed Westwick, but oh well.

For make up, Meester wore a soft rose colour on her lid and a deepened crease but nothing too dramatic. Her eyeliner was applied lightly and smudged into her lashline and her eyelashes were very long, maybe a demi wispy were added in at the corners for that flirty look. For her lips, a deep red-berry colour was used and it looked semi matte.

I attempted to recreate the lipcolour because I do not have anything that deep in my collection. I used the e.l.f. conditioning lipbalm in Romantic Rouge and NYX Diamond Sparkle lipgloss in Pink Sparkle.
I enjoyed doing this look and hope I’ve gotten as close to the look as possible. ^__^

There are no pics of this look because I hadn’t been able to take good ones with the camcorder, and I’m not sure where my sister put her camera, so please excuse that. However I did take snapshots of the ad for reference, so I place them in this post.

Turquatic Aquatic Tutorial!

Hey all! This weeks has taken a much better turn since last post, I’m so pleased! Anyway, I was requested to do  a blue and green look by LeyaHollingsworth and Amorpuppy1 and I also happened to stumble across the Turquatic fragrance M.A.C. Cosmetics had recently released. I love the packaging of it, but as far as reviews have shown, the scent is not as pretty as the bottle. See more about M.A.C.’s turquatic here on Temptalia! or more here!

So on Saturday I played with my new Coastal Scents eyeshadows (swatches here) and I came up with a cut-crease eye look which I really liked.
Luckily enough for you, I am going to be doing sneak previews here on my blog! So here we go! WHen the video finally loads I will be posting it here as well. ENJOY!

I think I might have used a bit too much base because it started to crease a while after.

The "Blackman Look" Blooper Reel!!

Hey all! Here is the awaited blooper reel from The Blackman Look.

It’s actually not as horrible as he thought and is only about a minute long so yay! I think he did a good job on the make up, he kept asking me the entire time.  But he did well without much direction.. except for the blush hahah, you’ll see what I mean hahah.

Btw this video is exclusive to my blog so you shouldn’t see it on my channel. Should I do more posts with videos exclusive to my blog?

Enjoy!

Also here is the video from the Blackman Look.

Green with Envy! The Green Smokey

Hey everone, I filmed this make up tutorial and would love for you to check it out when it finally uloads to YouTube! Here’s a bit of a preview!

I woke up on Sunday with this idea in my head and I decided to try it out before I made a video on it. It actually came out pretty good considering it is green, not one of my favourite colours, but I really do think it looks beautiful here.

On Tuesday, I filmed the tutorial but my camera did something wonky and deleted the file from the computer, when I was adding importing another video (which you’ll actually see quite soon). I wore Boots Botanics lipstick in Comfrey during the first video, however when I came to refilm on Wednesday, I could not find that lipstick, so I used a more red lip colour. For this look, I think a more subdued and natural lipcolour is better as it leaves room for the  eyes to be admired. So if you try this out I suggest a natural or nude colour.

I realised this look also looks a lot more smokey in real life than on camera, but it might be my camera settings, so I’ll have to figure that out.

What I used for this look:
  • Botanics Soothing and Calming Eye Base
  • Boots No. 7 Eye Mousse- Lilac
  • BH Cosmetics 88 Matte Palette
  • KleanColor Shimmery eye palette- moss green
  • Starry eye shadow palette- bright shimmery green
  • Black Kohl liner
  • Botanics Lash Defining Mascara- Black Brown
  • Avon automatic brow pencil- Tawny
  • e.l.f Radiance Blusher- Flushed
  • e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipstick- Ruby Slipper
Seriously my brows…

Tropical-ish Make up Look

Hey all, this look was requested by LeyaHollingsworth (on youtube, also known as my friend Ashley ^__^), from my Makeup Doll review/ 88 matte palette video.

She asked me to do a tutorial with yellows, oranges and blacks, however I wasn’t liking how the yellow was applying.. it was a little to close to my skintone and just blended in. So I will do another look when I get a completely white base where I do exactly that look. For this look, I reversed the order from yellow-orange purple to purple-orange yellow.  Sorry to disappoint if I did, but I hope you improve and attain more beauty products which will help me to create more outrageous looks.
In the video, I was trying out a couple of things, slightly different backdrop, different camera settings, slightly different editing and voice overs. Please comment on the effectiveness of this style (that sounded like an exam question lolol).

Oh yes, I was trying to show the proucts and colours in the videos, but I had gotten accustomed to the zoom on the camera so they all look really bad and none of the eyeshadow colours are shown on the screen. Thus I have taken a picture and circled the colours used. Usually I would use Adobe Photoshop for something like that, but I do not have it on this computer. Hope what I did in Paint will suffice. ^__^ Enjoy!

Looks like a 4 year old did this lolol

When I did this look I thought it was a lot more bright that it looks, but in pictures it doesn’t look as bright, which may be a good thing.
