New blog design!!

Hey all! I wanted to have this for a while now and I’ve finally gotten it! A new blog design, blog button and tagline! This fabulous work is thanks to Christina from Rai Designs! I had been gradually changing things like the sharing buttons and a few other widgets. I still have some work I’d like to do on the titles for the various headings in the sidebar. But I think everything actually meshes really well together!

Anyway what are your thoughts on the new look? I modified my tagline also because I did not feel like I was saying enough about my island roots from blogging. I mean I do post a lot about beauty and I do Chit Chats often, but something needed to shout BARBADOS! (besides a flag, you know?)

I can’t stop looking at it, hehehe! Now to change my siggy , and sidebar titles…

Sticking to Schedule is hard! | Chit Chat

Happy Friday!

I promised I’d get back to my schedule probably a week ago, but it has become harder and harder to do so since classes started. I’d have to take about an hour or more to think out posts to write, then I have to remember to take pictures of them.

Taking pictures is not hard, but taking good pictures (or at least in my mind) is. I like to take my product photos in the daylight as I have a digital camera and the photos look grainy in dim light. As many of my classes are early in the day and run well into evening I can’t even take them before I leave home or when I get back because it’s almost always too late.

Anyway, I said all of that to ask you bloggers and even readers for tips on blogs, photos and lighting. Any suggestions on what to post would also be considered. I have some ideas in mind but it would take some time to put them together for a post.

Also, I hope you recognised, I updated my blog Schedule on the right of this page, giving me a bit more freedom on what to post. I want to in-cooperate my older posts, which although were not as good as my current have very useful information in them.

Here’s the new schedule:

  • Beauty Mondays -Reviews, Beauty Chit Chat, Hauls
  • Rewind Wednesdays– Taking you back in time to my older posts!
  • Guest Thursdays– Guest Posts (see form if you’re interested)
  • Anything Goes Fridays– Beauty, Life or Fashion posts
  • Blog hops all week! (once I can keep up)

What happened to the posts? | Chit Chat

Hey guys, I know I said I’d only take one week off but that wasn’t enough apparently. I’m going to admit I’ve been trying to do way too much. So when Sunday rolled around, I tried to write Monday’s post and was BLANK. Tabula rasa. I didn’t know what to write, what to take pictures of. Honestly, I think I went into vacation mode, hahaha.

I stopped for a break but instead of following up on everything I wanted to, I was overwhelmed.
Anyway enough with the excuses, I will be sure to take some photos for upcoming posts and also have some fun posts up soon. I have to kickstart back onto my schedule which I may be making some changes to. Perhaps some days you may see more than one post on one day. It may be a short post but nonetheless, I want to try to post more and eventually work my way up to posting daily.

So to new beginnings, it was a nice break. Sorry to keep you guys hanging, but thank you for staying with me!

Break from posts for the week

Hi everyone! I am going to be taking a break this week from my regular posts to catch up with all the lovely blogs I follow as well as to check out some new blogs I’ve found on the blog hops I’ve been taking part in. I also will be catching up on YouTube. So basically, it’ll just be a vacation week so I can recuperate, collect my thoughts and get back to interacting with other bloggers.

I already have a post for today up which is just a haul, but there will be no more posts until Saturday, where I’ll show you pics from my 2 year anniversary :). I’ll still be replying to comments and such, so if you want to leave your blog or YouTube links, feel free to do so. (I may not follow everyone back though, just a quick disclaimer)

Ta-ta for this week, I hope you won’t mind the break too much!

See you Saturday 🙂

Happy Friday and Happy Anniversary! :) | Aloha Friday Blog Hop

Aloha pretties! I’m in a splendid mood this Friday. Although the week has been buzzing by, I think I’ve kept relatively on schedule and productive, to the point I could chill at least one night this week! Studying has been going well, though sometimes you just don’t have the drive for it. But you must push on, it’s not the time to turn back!

Tomorrow will be my relationship’s 2 year anniversary :). I hope everything comes off well and it isn’t too rainy. We’re going quite laid back this year, but hopefully I’ll be able to take some pictures of where we go for the blog or Instagram.

I hope you all have been having a good week and be sure to have a lovely Friday! Don’t forget to add your blog to the hop and share as well!

What keeps you going? | Aloha Friday Blog Hop

Aloha Hoapili and happy Friday! How do you deal with schedules when things keep getting busier and busier? I would love some tips, I think this is one of the busiest times for me. My final semester classes have started back, and I’m trying to juggle a job, blogging and still being social. It’s hard, especially the social part as I’m a bit of an introvert and being alone sometimes really doesn’t bother me, I have the internet. You know? All the fun blogs to read and videos to watch, though I wish I could invent some more time to do it in, honestly, I’m starting to miss out on my reading, pah!

Anyway don’t be like me, get in your share of awesome blogs all this weekend through this link up. If you have a blog add yourself to the list. Hopefully I’ll get to pass by some really cool blogs!

Happy Aloha Friday!

The Week that Flew | Aloha Friday Blog Hop

Aloha Hoapili and Happy Friday!!  I’m happy and sad it’s about to be the weekend. There were so many things I wanted to do this week, but didn’t get around to. Sigh. Let’s hope today and the rest of the weekend can be as productive as possible. Thank you all again for joining me as I co-host this lovely blog hop. I’ve been discovering lots of new blogs and finding some real gems! Honestly, I really want to apologise for how long it takes me to reply to your lovely comments. I do appreciate every one of them.

Aside from AFBH I just started a collab with a couple girls like self, dabbling into style-blogging. For  me it’s just a small dabble, but for others, it’s the main aim of their blog. We put together a Back to School Style lookbook, if you want to call it that. Showing you what we would wear for various basic occasions when you’re going to school. Yes,I’m around that age where I’m just now finishing uni, but I still enjoy Back to School blog posts, contests and all that hoo haa, even though I’m not a huge fan of school itself hahah.

Anyway, let’s get onto this hop, this week there is a contest going on. So try your luck!

Happy Aloha Friday!

Apologies & Trip Updates

Hey all! I really have to apologise for my lack of posts after I left for my trip. I had a few posts scheduled and was going to use my tablet to post on Saturdays and Wednesdays. However, the Thursday before the trip I ran into technical difficulties with my tablet (it stopped charging) and I had to lessen my usage of it. I sent it off to Samsung when we got to the US and I’m waiting to receive it since it’s been fully repaired now. So sad because there was so much I wanted to blog about and just no way to do it. 😦

Anyhow, I’m back in Barbados! Sadly with a cold/flu… seriously this trip was quite something huh? we had a fairly good time, shopped until my shoulders, legs, back just about everything ached. I got to meet up with Blackman one day and we explored Manhattan, I’ll have a separate post on that coming up. I got a to pick up a few make up items, but nothing to shout about. I didn’t get to find everything that I wanted, and I really was being frugal when I bought make up, just so I could buy more clothes haha. Typically I don’t buy clothes here in Barbados because it’s a lot of stores selling the same clothes and I like unique pieces that don’t cost a fortune.

One of my new favourites!

You know people say New York is the city that never sleeps and it’s so true! Coming back home on the subway at sometimes 10 and 11 p.m, it was packed! You would expect otherwise because when you get on a bus in Barbados around 9 p.m. and it’s half empty. It was one of the most surprising things, along with fruit/vegetable stores never seeming to close. Our trip home was quite early (I’m talking about 5 a.m.) and around 3 a.m. these stores were still open! While some of the supermarkets and some drug-stores shut down the fast food restaurants were still booming with people. I remember on my first night, we were famished and decided to try the McDonald’s. So many people were there waiting for food to come out. I was happy that the food was fresh though because there’s nothing like stale or re-warmed fries, EW.

Times Square is quite interesting, I passed in the car the first night I was there and wondered if there was a concert going on or something, since so many people were on the street. But I learnt that it’s always like that especially after passing through there two other times. At night, it’s still bustling with people and even when it’s rainy, people with fun bubble umbrellas or boring black ones like mine are hustling to and fro. It’s really funny for me, because Bajans hardly like going anywhere when it’s rainy, unless they’re driving.

I really enjoyed seeing the huge billboards with the brand names, actors, models and just hilarious advertisements you’re accustomed to on cable television or magazines. I think that was a beautiful thing. I’m a real sucker for ads haha.

Driving through the state of New York, some areas reminded me of home. My mother thought it was weird and didn’t see the resemblance, but for me it was just in the smaller things that I saw home. I guess I was a bit homesick. People who visit the Big Apple usually are fascinated by the skyscrapers, and to me that was not half as beautiful as the older buildings, with Victorian details. I think skyscrapers look modern and innovative, but there’s nothing like a century old intricately designed building.

Anywho, I have yapped enough about the trip I’ll be doing other posts with less chatter and more pictures. I have a ton of reviews/hauls coming up as well and I also have a lot of video footage, which I may use to kick start my YouTube channel from the hiatus.

Aspiration Diaries #5 & Update

Hey all! Yes, I know I said I’ll stick to a blogging schedule, but by the time I thought of a post for a certain day, the time was well past to write it, so I decided to take the week off. And a busy week it was. Thank God I didn’t have to stress about blogging too. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with good ideas, you know what I mean? Like when a lecturer tells you that you need to write an essay that’s due in a few days and all of a sudden, every great idea you had floating around in your head disappears. You get what I mean. Last week went by in a blur, I still can’t believe that it’s over.

As mentioned in my previous AD post (2 weeks ago), we had to plan a week of activities for our faculty and see it through. And I think it came off pretty well. Of course being a bit of a perfectionist, I still think there’s plenty of room for improvement and that some things could have gone a lot better, but overall the result was quite good. With the Beer lime being a huge hit for students and the Cocktail the talk of lecturers. So congratulations and thank you to the committee members for working so hard to put together such a good week! We all worked very hard and I think we did great!

If it’s one thing that I forgot for that week and even part of this one, was Instagram. I did not remember to post a picture of anything, not even of my outfits for the week. I was way too busy worrying about what was to happen when and arriving on time (which I still didn’t get done the best, sadly).

I definitely had fun for my faculty week though. Especially as it came to it’s end; it was a tad bittersweet, as the bonds that were forged may be severed as we wouldn’t have to completely rely on each other after this week. With Guild elections around the corner and a new committee to be coming in. Though this also meant less stress and meetings to attend haha. However I really did enjoy the whole ordeal.

By the time you are seeing this, I may already be on the road on my way to University carnival, which I’m hoping I can also have fun at and release some more stress before exams begin in May.
As this post is going on forever, let me just get to my goals for next week right now.

  1. Make a study schedule in order to maximise my time before the “study period” and stick to it.
  2. Remember that I have an Instagram and actually post pictures, not just like them.
  3. Do the necessary extra work needed for my research project, before it gets too late (I hate rushing to the finish)
  4. Try to experiment with more make up during the week. (no clown face though haha)
  5. Take BREAKS and reward yourself.\

How has your week been? Rough, busy, easy-breezy, moderate? I had a big reminder last week that I should remember to take a break sometimes, and especially involve (talk to, visit, spend time with) the persons who love and care about me. Hopefully you take breaks in your life too. I’m a workaholic… I need breaks more like brakes! haha.
