Review-a-Day: Almay Oil-free Eye Makeup Remover Pads

ALMAY Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover Pads
Taken from Almay

This is my final review for this series T__T. Well I hope that you’ve been able to find the information you’ve been looking for during this time, if not, you could ask me to review other products and I will try my hardest to get to them. Today we’ll be talking about the Almay Almay Oil-free Eye Makeup Remover Pads. America’s #1 they are rated, but is it really worth the buzz or is that just an advertising gimmick?

I absolutely LOVE this eye make up remover! It’s just fabulous. You get 80 round pads, saturated with their amazing eye make up remover. These pads do not dry up very fast and each is nicely saturated, there’s no need to squeeze out excess product. It’s like they soaked each pad separately with the right amount of remover.

Despite how thing the pads are, they do an amazing job at removing your make up. I’d just call it perfect.
On a daily basis, I do not sport a full made eye, and this remover is able to remove my mascara, brow make up and what ever eyeshadow I’m wearing from both eyes within seconds. I could even use just one pad.

For nights out or special occasions, I wear more eye shadow and even waterproof mascara, yet these pads have been able to remove layers of eye make up very briefly. It’s so amazing, again I’ll say I love this make up remover.

Note how thing this is

The power of these pads to remove waterproof mascara is outstanding! The Falsies mascara is off within 10 seconds! (These pictures are from recent reviews on the Maybelline mascaras.)

Removing Maybelline Great Lash Big:

Removing Maybelline The Falsies Mascara Waterproof:

These eye make up remove pads do not tug on my eyelid or anything, they’re just extremely great at their job, and there’s no greasy feeling to them either.

I think I saw the price of this on Target for $5.99USD or something like that, but I’m not sure of the Barbados price as I didn’t get it here. It is available here though.

The VERDICT:
Pros:
-Removes regular eye make up within seconds
-Removes waterproof make up very quickly
-Lots of Product in container
-Formula/liquid does not dry out from pad quickly
-Good for everday use
-Does not burn eyes
-Does not feel greasy

Cons:
I can’t think of any…
-Probably the price in Barbados

The Raw Sugar:
AMAZING PRODUCT! I cannot say enough how much I love it. Definitely my preferred option for removing everyday eye make up. It’s just so easy. Recommend buying this if you see it.

Review-a-Day: Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Make up Remover

Hey all! I am here again with yet another review, coming down to the final days of this series, yay!! You wouldn’t believe how much work a series like this is haha. Anyway, I’ve had this eyemake up remover for quite some time. It’s been the first eye make up remover I’ve tried and I’m on my second bottle. But after this one finishes, is it worth the repurchase? … Let’s find out!

Firstly, this is not one of the two layer make up removers with the oil and water, so there’s no need to shake it up. It boasts no oils, no fragrances, no colours and it eliminates all the extras regular eye make up removers have so it can really cater to sensitive skin especially around the eye area.

I would say that’s the best thing about this eye make up remover, it has never ever broken me out and it’s hydrating too. However I still would advise never getting it in your eye. Whenever it got in mine, or just some residue from removing my mascara, it burned sooo bad.

As the advertising says, it does not have a greasy feel to it what so ever. That’s why I’d use this over Olive Oil any day, I hate that feeling.

It says it’s supposed to be able to remove waterproof mascara, however I believe this was it’s down fall for me. It’s good at removing everything else, but I tried with the Falsies and I’d have to wait a good minute before it was really moving. (BTW I haven’t taken any pics of the removal, but I do have for the other eye make-up remove I’m reviewing )

I love it for every day use when I don’t have a ton of eyeshadow on, but when I’m really made up this can prove to be a bit slow at taking off your make up, especially when you’re tired (it seems liek time slows down).

This bottle contains 125ml and I don’t remember eve seeing a bigger bottle, but it lasts quite a while depending on how often you use it. For me I barely use a lot of eye make up and I’ve been using this bottle from Summer perhaps and it’s only past half way. I might have it for another summer hahaha.

The price of this bottle was $12.77BDS when I got it, which was around early 2011. Maybe earlier than that, but I’ve seen the price constantly on the rise, and I dont thing there’s any need for this OK make up remover to be any more than $15BDS.

The VERDICT:
Pros:
-Removes regular eye make up
-Hydrating
-Removes make up relatively quickly (depnds on level of exhaustion)
-Good for sensitive skin
-No oil
-Not greasy feeling
-Lasts long depending on usage

Cons:
-Burns my eyes
-Takes a while to remove waterproof mascara
– Small bottle
-Price keeps increasing :/

The Raw Sugar:
This is good eye make remover for everyday use. Not for Nights out partying with heavy make up or anything such as it does take a while to start working. Good for sensitive skin, but definitely not eyes, sensitive or otherwise. My eyes aren’t sensitive at all and it really burns when even the residue gets in my eye. Pricewise, for this tiny bottle, I would not say it’s worth it, especially with the constant price hikes. There are other removers which I have heard are better and are only about a $1 difference between the two. So would I repurchase? I think not.

BTW this is a UK product so I’m not sure If you get it in the US.

Review-a-Day: e.l.f. Essentials Soothing Lip Balm

Taken from eyeslipsface

Hey all! Today I’ll be continuing with my Review-a-Day series. I hope you’ve been enjoying it, it’s the weekend stretch, just two more posts after this and it’ll also be school descending upon me. I still hope I have the time to blog and get inspired to make more series like this. So today’s product is going to be the  e.l.f Essentials Soothing lip balm, once known as the Therapeutic Conditioning lip balm. I think they changed the name because they had another product with a quite similar name.
Worth the buy? let’s find out…

This little lip balm really surprised me. The packaging is very simple, it is a lip balm of course, and despite the twist part being a bit faulty, the formula made up for what the simple packaging lacked.

I choose to get this lip balm in Vanilla creme so I could avoid the fruity scents which I had lots of before and was a bit tired of. Vanilla creme is an off-white to cream colour and it must be noted that it will leave a white cast if it is not rubbed in properly. It takes a while to absorb after applying, so i simply use a clean finger to help it sink into my lips faster.

This balm is very moisturising, it feels smooth like butter on your lips.I love how well it keeps my lips from chapping. It also lasts on the lips very long and seldomly needs reapplying unless you have eaten or completely wiped it off.

The little tube actually holds quite a lot of product. My first one I had been using on and off during the summer then I used it solely during school until December. Had i not misplaced my cover, I would still have that same exact one. Oh yes, that’s something, when this lip balm is left uncovered is melts away to nothing in a jiffy. So always replace your cap.

There’s not as taste to this lip balm which is a good change from what I had been using previously. Flavours can be a bit annoying at times, I’d rather stick to flavoured lipgloss. The scent is not strong and is actually pleasant, makes me want to try the other scents available.

Although some people may find this weird, the balm sometimes brings up the dead cells on the lips and to me it’s just an indicator of the need to exfoliate, which is also easily done using this lip balm and a tissue. Then it’s back to smooth lips!

The VERDICT:
Pros:
-Very moisturising
Handful of Scents
-Long-lasting formula
-Good for exfoliation
-Good for soothing chapped lips or preventing them
-A little goes a long way
-Tube has a lot of product

Cons:
-Takes a while to absorb and leaves a white cast on lips (for vanilla creme)

The Raw Sugar:
I really admire this little tube of lip balm, it has surprised me and been an aid to my once forever chapped lips. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, females and even males.

Review-a-Day: e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner

Taken from eyeslipsface
Today I’ll be reviewing the e.l.f. nStudio Cream eyeliner. During 2010 and 2011, gel or cream liners became really popular and many make up brands started making then, from the drugstore brands up to the higher end cosmetic companies. The e.l.f Studio cream liner is just one of the many created but is it a good or bad one? Onto the review!

I had this eyeliner from January 2011 and it has given me a lot of use finally drying up this January. I’ve heard a lot of people talking about how fast their gel or cream liners get hard before they even have the chance to use it all up.So I think that’s amazing for such an affordable product.

The packaging is very cute and the cap seals very tightly, but no way as tight as the e.l.f eyeliner pen which I reviewed yesterday. I think that’s what really kept the product from drying out too fast. I really like the packaging. The cap is still easy to remove and the plastic jar is very sturdy.

The formula was also very pigmented. I had gotten Midnight which is a navy blue, because I really am not a fan of black eyeliner. It was nice and creamy and loaded well unto a brush. The formula is a thick cream which does not require much drying time and does not transfer onto the eyelid.

my now dried up liner..

Despite not c stating if the formula was waterproof or not, during my use of the product I realised it did not wipe off when it came into contact with water, like the eyeliner pen had. This was great for everyday wear and lasted the entire day on any part of my eye, be it the lower or upper lashliner or even the outer corners. I cannot say how impressed I was by this eyeliner.

excuse the sun here, it decided to be a bit of a hassle

So in the package with this eyeliner you also get this tiny brush. I mean e.l.f was probably thinking it’s a good idea for starters, which it is, but it’s so tiny that it makes applying the product a troublesome task. I worked with the bursh for some time before I got fed up and stopped using the eyeliner. Had the handle been a bit longer it would have made for a better overall package, especially because I had no angled eyeliner brushes. The bristles on this brush were not bad and really held the product well, while it was some what flexible. I guess that was just an incentive to tell me to buy an e.l.f full sized brush! hahaha

The VERDICT:Pros:
-Does not Smudge
-Goes on smooth
-Lasts all day
-Good for everyday use
-Very Pigmented
-Stays usable for about 1 year (takes so long to dry out!)
Very affordable
-Lots of colours

Cons:
-Tiny applicator (sample size eyeliner brush)
The Raw Sugar:
Besides the tiny sample sized brush that comes in the box with this eyeliner I don’t think I have anything bad to say about this eyeliner. It lasts all day, barely smudges after it sets, comes in a number of colours, AND it’s very affordable.

Review-a-Day: e.l.f Essentials Waterproof Eyeliner Pen

Taken from eyeslipsface

Today I’ll be reviewing the e.l.f. Waterproof eyeliner pen. I have it in 2 colours, black and teal. These are from the e.l.f Essential line and are really affordable, but do you get what you pay for? Onto the review!

Firstly, the cover of this pen is very hard to remove. I know it might be this “airtight” to stop the product from drying out, but come on, could this be any more difficult to open. Sometimes I have to resort to using my teeth as you will see in the video. Not very lady-like when it comes to your cosmetics, or sanitary either.

Despite the tightly fitting cap, this eyeliner has dried out on me way too fast. This is my esecond black one and it feels like there’s nothing left in the tube when I only got it around August or September. My first Waterproof eyeliner pen lasted an entire year.

I do not wear liquid liner that often and hence I had waited for the first one to dry completely up first before opening this second one. Even though I’ve done that, this one seems to be a bit more of a fail for me. It had started off nice and wet, but over 3 uses the liner got more and more dry with every use. I’d have to shake it excessively until a whole bunch of the ink came to the felt tip (with the cap closed of course), then when I opened it, it’d make a mess all over my hands.

Also on the package for this, it says to store it downwards so it doesnt dry out as fast, and I’ve done that from the time I’ve gotten each, but this black one really just wouldn’t work properly. I feel like I’ve wasted so much of the product from spilling it in the cover and my hands.

The felt tip is ok, but it’s not the best. It starts off like the formula, nice and perfect and it impresses you, then over time it just fades away. Some how all of my tips ended up fraying out after like… 3 uses. not a fun at all.

The formula is really fluid and glides on very easily on the first few uses and dries from the tip really fast so I advise covering it as soon as you are finished. It takes about 5-7 seconds to dry without transferral, but I would say 10-15 seconds to completely dry where it does not smudge easily. f u rub your eye after it has dried, it will smudge somewhat, it depends on the vigour.

As you’ll see in the pictures, sometimes it applied nice and dark (after much shaking), and other strokes are very faint, actually looking like brown or charcoal.

It does not stay put on my lower lashline or the outer corners of my eyes despite piling it one when I try to wing it. Maybe I need to layer it or something, but I have other eyeliners which have stayed way longer on the corners of my eyes.

Another thing about this pen. It’s somewhat difficult to apply over eyeshadow, especially if the formula is drying out. Sometimes it also tugs on my lids and makes it harder to apply the product without having to pull my eyelid taut.

Waterproof? I would barely say so. I tried a couple ways to show you how waterproof it was. First, I applied it to my hand, let it dry a minute, then used my ring finger to wipe it off. Not too much pressure, but it was already slipping and sliding. So I don’t understand how this could even pass the waterproof test.

Then I sprayed my hand with water and used a tissue to wipe across my hand, again not much pressure but some came right off leaving stains of their presence, other lines smudged, some started to make the water turn colours. Then i decided to draw another line and try again to be sure it wasn’t a fluke. I allowed it to dry completely, sprayed the water, then I pat it dry. Finally I swiped my ring finger across it and there was a lot less smudging as you may see in the pictures.

So I guess it’s waterproof to some extent, depends on how you treat it.

Removal is very easy with eyemake up remover, just sometimes you may get a bit of staining if you dont wash your face afterwards. That could be a real hassle especially if you’re just cleaning up a mistake.

The VERDICT:
Pros:
Very affordable
-Lots of colours
-Good for a taste of liquid liner (beginners like me)
-Can go on very pigments for first uses
-Somewhat waterproof
-Lasts all day on the top lid
-Easy to remove, though it leaves a stain

Cons:
-Difficult to open!
-Dries out very fast (meaning you have to buy more.. meh)
-Felt tip loses pointiness quickly
-Messy
-Ok formula
-Tugs on lids
-Inconsistent product (sometimes you get a good one, sometimes it applies well, sometimes you get a bad one)

The Raw Sugar:
I really liked the first one I got better, some how the quality was way nicer than this second black one. The teal is a nice colour and hasn’t dried out as much as this new black one. Despite all I’ve said I still like the product although it’s not something I would look forward to wearing everyday. I’m actually looking into different liquid liners now that I’m getting better at applying it. But this one has been nice practice for some one like me who is not good with straight lines. BTW any suggestions for new liquid liners are great appreciated! ^__^

Barbados: I heard there’s an e.l.f. store here selling some but I haven’t gotten there as yet. My sister also had a couple to sell in a few colours I think (if you’d like details email me chrisamoryt@gmail.com). There were also a number of people on Facebook who were selling e.l.f products, I’m not sure if they had this eyeliner though

Review-a-Day: Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof

Hey all!Today I will br reviewing the Maybelling The Falsies Volum’Express Waterproof mascara as promised. This has always had so much buzz surrounding it, and I’m sure many of you wonder if it’s worth it… onto the review!

I’ll be starting of like yesterday with the wand. Once again a fibre bristle brush but unlike the Maybelline Great Lash, the wand is curved similarly to a spoon and the centre of the brush is the widest part. This brush tends to pick up a lot of the product because of this shape despite the cleaner tube at the top of the bottle. Sometimes it can be rather annoying for me and I have to clean off the wand on the tube, otherwise I can end up with so really over-clumped and messy lashes. For some reason I also forgot to take a picture of this brush, but you can refer to the above photo.

Once again the problem with my eyes is these large brushes tend to be a bit too big. I have had other mascaras with regularly sized spoolies and they’re still been able to give me everyday  lengthen and volume.

(Do excuse the picture tone for this post, the lighting was changing and the camera picked it up, so I had to try to remove some of the orangey tones.)

The formula on this mascara is thicker than the Great Lash for certain. I tried this first then I tried the Great Lash and was pleasantly surpised by it’s lighter formula. The formula which the Falsies has tends to draw the length and volume faster than the Great Lash, making this mascara very easy to overdose on. The drying time I would say is about 7-10 seconds to completely dry before applying another coat, or you well end up with a mess.

As you will see with this mascara, as you carefully apply more, the length and volume builds to extreme amounts, and I think it really does give that false lash effect. Oh yes, because the formula is so thick and weighs down my lashes a bit, I think this would be great paired with an eyelash curler. That way you can get the curl without as much manipulation as I have to go through.

Three coats really had to be shown in two photos because the length was incredible!

I have mentioned in the title that this is a waterproof mascara, so I took so pics to show you just how waterproof it is. I also spoke about using it on Grand Kadooment day in the video. Now let me tell you, on Grand Kadooment day rain poured in buckets!

I had helped my sister out that morning and she had applied this mascara and another maybelline waterproof product, I think it was the Eyestudio waterproof eyeliner, around 8:00 a.m. She jumped with a band the entire day and when she came home she still had both on! Through rain, sweat and sun! I also wore this mascara from a bit later in the day when I watched the bands and it lasted all day! I was so very impressed.

In the shots, I sprayed my eye with some water from a spray bottle then patted dry with a tissue,  and the mascara barely budged.

One time I took a nap in this mascara and then had leave home right afterwards, and this mascara was still nice. My lashes stayed wonderfully curled and they werent very mangled either.

Now we know this mascara stays so amazingly great, I’ll talk about removing it. At first I hated to wear it because my previous eye make up remover could barely get it off. I’d soak a cotton pad and wait for like a minute to try to remove it, or I’d use olive oil. Sometimes I just got lazy and would wash my face and forget all about trying to remove it. But then I got a better eye make up remover, which I will be reviewing soon, and that got it off really nice and fast.

The thing with waterproof mascara is, they have such great staying power that sometimes you can still be left with the residue, so I give it more time than normal mascara to be removed.

After removing you might not always be able to tell there’s a residue until later on when you feel your eyelashes. So you really have to make sure this mascara is all off before bed. This is also why I choose not wear waterproof mascara everyday because it can stay on so well it might end up drying out my lashes, plue I don’t like how stiff it can make my lashes.

The VERDICT:
Pros:
-Great Length and Volume
-Amazing staying power
-Very waterproof
-Lasts all day and night too (haha)
-Buildable as long as it is applied with patience

Cons:
-Brush picks up too much product
-Brush is a bit too big for my eyes hence hard to manoeuvre sometimes
-Messy to use
-So waterproof can be difficult to remove without a great eye make up remover
-May need eye lash curler

The Raw Sugar:
According to all the buzz it’s gotten, I think this mascara has been really pumped up in my mind, but I’m a bit disappointed in its cons. I actually like the Great Lash better, especially for everyday use. But if I’m going out somewhere nice, this is definitely my mascara of choice, also because I’m not so great with actual false lashes. Had this mascara been easier to remove, maybe I would have taken it out to wear much more often. Even so I never go for the full 3 coats, because I always fear taking it off haha.

Also I would say using an eye lash curler would this would definitely make it easier to put on for me.

It might just be that the waterproof formula has such a great staying power, that it’s driving me to not like it that much, but I don’t think I’ve seen the washable formula to try. Either way, It’s a great mascara for the false lash effect, awesome volume and length, gives great drama to the eyes, but it’s a hassle to remove.

Review-a-Day: Maybelline Great Lash Big Washable

Hey everyone, today I’ll be reviewing the Maybelline Great Lash Big Washable Mascara. The first product for my Review-a-Day series. Enjoy!

Let’s start off with the brush. Strangely did not take a picture of the brush, haha; but I can describe it. The brush is similar to that of a regular spoolie, fibrous well-spaced bristles which are full and long for most of the wand then taper off at the end (as shown in above picture). The brush is good for giving definition, length and volume to the lashes, but the formula can clump if there is inadequate drying time.  I would say it gives an adequate amount of volume, but the length is really outstanding. Usually I just do one coat of mascara and go for the day, and it still looks groomed but natural.

The brush although very nice is a bit big for my eyes, so it can be really difficult to reach the lashes at corners of my eyes. With some manoeuvring it is possible however. Probably if I had the regular Great Lash it would be much more easily done, but I’d have to try that one out first.

The formula is relatively wet and takes about 5-7 seconds to dry completely. Depending on the time inbetween coats it can become somewhat clumpy, as you will see in the pictures. The formula does darken and lengthen the lashes well. But over time and a number of coats, the lashes become more stuck together and spidery.

This mascara lasts all day and takes a lot of effort to be taken off without make up remover.
This is supposed to be a washable mascara and it is very easily removed with regular make-up remover, even after 3 coats of mascara. I happened to sleep in this mascara and there was no raccoon eyes when I woke up which was a nice suprise, though I don’t suggest sleeping in your mascara. Removing this mascara is a breeze and it looks like you haven’t even been wearing mascara.

The VERDICT:
Pros:
-Nice full brush
-Lengthens well
-OK Volumizing power
-Great for everyday wear
-Easily builds length and volume for night use
-Dries relatively quick
-Not Irritating to my eyes
-All-day wear
-Washable
-Great Price (~$10 BDS)

Cons:
-Brush is a bit big for my eyes

The Raw Sugar:
It is a great mascara for everyday use as it is buildable for lengthen and volume and it is washable so it’s easy to remove. I would recommend for anyone looking for an affordable mascara. Definitely an veryday favourite of mine. I love this mascara, probably better than the Falsies, which I thought I’d like more. More on that tomorrow…

New Series coming up! … Review-a-Day!

Hey all! I have a new series of videos comin up on my YouTube channel, as long as I get the work done on this new special effects editor that I’m trying out. I hope that this new series will be helpful.

BTW this does not mean that my other series on my channel such as Complications of Infatuation (COI), Jitterbox, or even Monthly Favourites (which I haven’t remembered to film lately hahah) will end. I tend to do those videos when I’m deeply inspired by something. so look out for them appearing at random.

This new series will be focusing on a number of reviews for products which I’ve had for some time. I realised I hadn’t done many reviews on my channel and decided to take this opportunity to film a whole bunch.

It will be a 7 -part series where I will be uploading a video a day (hopefully) of short reviews, followed with a blog post giving further information on the product, such as photos, pros and cons, the video, where you can find the product, etc.

I’ve decided to call this Review-a-Day, not completely original, but it gets the point across hahah.

Here’s the product line up for Review-a-Day:

  1. Maybelline Great Lash Big Mascara
  2. Maybelline The Falsies Volum’Express (Waterproof)
  3. e.l.f. Essentials Waterproof Eyeliner Pen
  4. e.l.f. Studio Cream Eyeliner
  5. e.l.f. Therapeutic Conditioning lip balm ( now called Essential Soothing Lip Balm)
  6. Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make-Up Remover
  7. Almay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover Pads

I hope that I have some product that you have been trying to find a review for in this series, if not you can always suggest a product for rerview on this post or email me at chrisamoryt@gmail.com .

Until next post, enjoy your weekend!
